We make navigating meltdowns easier.

A behavioural decision-making map for the moments when parenting feels hardest.

A MODERN PARENTING TENSION

Pulled between two extremes.

Children need warmth and structure. Not one or the other.

ONE EXTREME

Authoritarian

Harshness, control, emotional withdrawal.

Boundaries without warmth.

THE OTHER

Permissive

Over-accommodation, collapsing boundaries, fear of ruptures.

Warmth without structure

How it works

If you've ever walked away from one of your child’s meltdowns thinking "did I handle that right?"

then you're not alone.

Most parenting advice tells you what to do. Almost none of it tells you why your child is doing what they're doing, or which response actually fits the moment.

The result is that you second-guess yourself, the meltdown escalates, and the lesson you wanted to teach gets lost.

The Regulation Compass changes that.

Built from thousands of hours in the therapy room.

The Regulation Compass was developed by Jesse Diggins, a developmental psychologist who has built his reputation working with some of the most complex young people in Australia, and translating that work into something every parent can use at home.

The co-regulation principles taught in this course are the same ones used at a specialist school where Jesse worked, which reduced major behavioural incidents from 150 a year to fewer than 10. These principles are detailed in academic literature (1).

Jesse is also the founder of Strength Psychology, the biggest child and adolescent psychology clinic in the Geelong region, and Psychs in Schools who supports more than 70 schools in Australia.

  • Endorsed Educational and Developmental Psychologist

  • Researcher and Evaluator (ReLATE Model); 5+ years in specialist school settings

  • Founder of Strength Psychology; 8+ years in private practice with families

  • Founder of Psychs in Schools; Servicing 70+ schools around Australia

The Framework

Four pillars.

One clear direction through hard moments.

  • Most advice on how to respond to children’s emotions and behaviours falls flat because it doesn’t meet the underlying need. What children show us is a puzzle and The Regulation gives you a Behaviour Cipher to decode it.

  • Set the conditions that prevent meltdowns before they start. Clear boundaries, predictable structure, and knowing what's likely to tip your child over the edge.

  • Co-regulate in the moment so your child's nervous system can settle — without giving in or losing your authority.

  • Match your response to the level of behaviour. Know what to say, what not to say, and when to say nothing at all.

  • Rebuild connection after rupture. Strengthen the relationship so the next hard moment is easier than the last.
